Video of my fastest lap in the IS300 at Rallycross. Probably my last rallycross in this car. My mechanical sympathy can’t handle the beating that this car gets on these courses. I utterly nuked a sway bar end link. Unfortunately this is a dirty lap as you can clearly hear where I thunk over a cone. The beeping is the traction control computer losing its mind when I get sideways. As you can hear, I am very much sideways. I got 2nd in stock RWD by 2 seconds. Very disappointing since I spun out on my first lap costing me 10 seconds due to a stupid error. Kind of sad to give this up because I feel more confident in my abilities here than at Autocross and it’s a hell of a lot more fun. Maybe I’ll get a cheap fox body or SN95 and get back at it. Whatever it is needs an LSD though. I can’t understate how amazing the SportCross’ Torsen LSD is on this loose surface, especially on the entrance to the oval where you’re sliding sideways across massive ruts (sorry, wheel bearings/ball joints!).

I always wanted to lift my STI slightly and turn it into a real dirt beast but I never managed to do it. I love this, thanks for sharing!
I am planning on picking up AutoX (not rallyX unfortunately) in the fall again and I will share my shitty run times with Oppo too... it’ll like watching a blooper reel.

That was very well driven IMO, except the cone. Very sideways.
V6 SN95s and New Edges are like, a thousand bucks all day with an auto. Just sayin

I wanted to do Rallyx at Flatfest this year, but beating the van like that after just rebuilding everything just didn’t sound appealing.

TToD was a modified STI, naturally. Dude was an amazing driver. I’ll share some pics later once I have a chance to edit.

an auto with a ratchet/slapshifter might work. The auto on the lexus kept killing my time on the morning course because I can’t force it into 1st gear with the paddles, only 2nd, and it would never kick down quick enough for me to have the instant torque I need to slide the rear on some of the low speed switchbacks type stuff.

My Capri will RallyX at some point. working my way across the garage with fixes right now. yamaha wave raider fixed, polaris SLT 780 3 seater almost fixed, then the capri gets fixed.

I've told you before man, manual valvebody. Still as daily-friendly as a normal auto, still gives you control over gear when you want it (like, actual control, not flappy paddle control), and cheaper than a manual swap. I'm sure there's a valvebody for New Edges, though.

For New Edges, certainly. For my IS300, probably not, lol.

You have the A650E right? I couldn't find anything really turnkey but it seems there are some solutions like a block off on the accumulator but thay has its own concerns.

Yeah that’s a big ol yikes. The stock gates SUCK for manual shifting. Would need some sort of aftermarket sequential lever thingie to make it even remotely usable.

This looks like the sketch accumulator block off one. I mean, if it breaks the transmission, it’s an excuse to manual swap it...
